Unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk will face former champion, Anthony Joshua, on August 20. The fight, Joshua vs Usyk 2, will be a rematch of their encounter won by Usyk last year.
What’s your prediction?
Famed promoter Frank Warren left no doubt about who he thinks will win.
“I kinda go back to what I’ve seen and their strengths and weaknesses,” Hearn told Boxing Social.
“I was surprised how easily Usyk handled him in the first fight. And it seemed to me he …. wasn’t out there trying to take him out. There were a couple of times in the fight, certainly in the last round, where I think he could have stopped him.”
“And I think this time around… he (Usyk) will stop him,” Warren added.
“This is not a rematch like he (Joshua) had with Ruiz who trained in his lager. This fella (Usyk) is a complete athlete. He’s trained hard. He’s in camp. He takes it seriously.“
… “He [Joshua] was behind in that fact all the way through… “Usyk was giving him a boxing lesson…. At one stage, he was 100 percent ready to go. He wobbled in that last round. They were ready to throw the towel in. You could see them.”

Not only does Usyk seemingly have an edge heading into the rematch, the Ukrainian will also be fighting for his countrymen when he steps in the ring against Joshua. Ukraine, of course, the victim of an unprovoked invasion by Russia earlier this year, is in the midst of heavy war as they courageously attempt to save their democracy.
“It was a very difficult decision to leave Ukraine,” Alexander Krassyuk, the Ukrainian promoter for Usyk, told Rob Tebbutt.
“[But] the announcements he can make through the public through what he does is just extraordinary. You can’t lose that chance. You can’t stay away from an exclusive opportunity to say to the whole world, to appeal to the whole world, that we need to unite around my homeland, we need to unite around Ukraine, and to stop the war and let all Ukrainians come home safe and sound.”

“He is not fighting for himself,” Krassyuk continued. “He’s not fighting for glory or for fame. He’s not just fighting for his personal legacy. He’s fighting for the whole country. He’s fighting for the whole democratic world.”
