WASHINGTON, D.C. — The war between Russia and Ukraine has been raging for almost a year, yet the Americans’ support for Ukraine remains strong. Per a January 3-22, 2023 Gallup poll, 65% of Americans still favor U.S. support of Ukraine in reclaiming its territory.
American support for Ukraine has primarily been in the form of weapons.
Broken down, 39% say they are satisfied with the current levels of U.S. aid to Ukraine, 28% say we’re doing too much and 30% insist we’re doing not enough.
The numbers are virtually unchanged from August.
Of course, Republicans are more likely than others to say the U.S. is doing too much as only 53 percent of the GOP supports aid to Ukraine. In contrast, 81 percent of Democrats and 59 percent of independents believe in America’s commitment to supporting Ukraine.

Given former President Donald Trump’s adoration of Russian President Vladimir Putin, it’s not surprising MAGA Republicans don’t support American aid to Ukraine. In fact, many of them are probably hoping Ukrainians fail in their attempt to save their country.
