Bogdan Dinu: Who is Jarrell Miller's next opponent?

Written by

It's a done deal for November 17. And at-stake will be the fringe WBA 'Regular' Heavyweight title.

Jarrell "Big Baby" Miller (22-0-1, 19 KO) vs Bogdan Dinu (18-0, 14 KO) will take place at the Kansas Star Casino in Mulvane, KS and will be televised by DAZN.

Yes, it's in Kansas.

Why there?

Per ESPN, Kansas native and 2016 Olympic bronze medalist Nico Hernandez (5-0, 4 KO), a flyweight prospect, will be showcased on the card.

So who is Bogdan Dinu?

The 6'5" 32 year old Romanian has been a pro for 10 years and is ranked No.2 among Romania's heavyweights (Christian Hammer) by BoxRec and 55 among active heavyweights by the same site.

________

Amateur Career

  • Dinu won the U17 world title in his home country in 2003 and a Bronze at the Euro U17.
  • In 2005 at the European Junior Championships he won silver losing to Andrey Volkov.
  • At senior level he wasn't as successful, he was stopped in the first round of the 2006 European Championships by Robert Helenius.
  • Before the 2007 World Championships he was caught shoplifting and banned for life in the amateurs.
    ________

He last fought in December, stopping veteran journeyman Marcelo Nascimento (then 18-15) inside the distance. And for a fella who has been a pro for 10 years, he hasn't been very active, notching only 18 bouts. However, he fought twice last year and in 2016.

Thus far, Dinu has defeated a slew of overmatched opponents so Big Baby will be, by far, his biggest test.
