What channel / network will host Manny Pacquiao vs Lucas Matthysse?

Will it be on free HBO, HBO PPV, ESPN, ESPN+ or something else?

Answer: ESPN+ will broadcast the fight.

Who?

The new ESPN channel has two subscription models — $5 per month or $50 per year. It includes live MLB, NHL, NBA, MLS, college sports, PGA golf, Top Rank Boxing, UFC events, Grand Slam Tennis matches, United Soccer League, cricket, rugby, Canadian Football League, English Football League, and UEFA nations league games.

There's a 7-day free trial and the subscription can be cancelled at any time.

More on Pacquiao vs Matthysse
For the first time in over 17 years, Pacquiao will be fighting without the promotional services of Bob Arum’s Top Rank Inc., the company that has guided Manny during most of his career.

However, Top Rank will serve as a broadcast partner for Pacquiao vs Matthysse instead.

“No problem with Top Rank as they will handle the broadcast of the fight in the US, Canada and Puerto Rico and this agreement has already been reached and signed,” Michael Koncz, Pacquiao's adviser, told Philstar.com via a text message earlier this year.

So who will promote Pacquiao vs Matthysse?

Answer: Pacquiao MP Promotions will co-promote the event with Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions, which handles Lucas Matthysse.

Last year, Pacquiao vs Jeff Horn, which was broadcast on ESPN, was the most-watched boxing telecast on cable television since 2006.

The fight peaked during the final half hour of their fight with 4.4 million viewers across ESPN networks, averaging 3.1 million viewers across ESPN, ESPN Deportes, and ESPN’s streaming options.

Solid numbers, especially considering Jeff Horn was an unknown in the U.S.

Perhaps Top Rank and ESPN are optimistic about how much revenue could be generated by broadcasting the fight on ESPN+?

A lot of fans who wouldn't have paid for Pacquiao vs Horn might shell out $5 for Pacquiao vs Matthysse because both fighters are accomplished big names.
