HUMBLE, TX - Super middleweight Isiah Seldon (11-1, 4 KO), son of former WBA heavyweight champion Bruce Seldon, overcame both a broken hand and knockdown in the opening round to defeat Tyrone Selders (9-14-1, 6 KOs) via a six-round unanimous decision Friday night.

Winning the ensuing five rounds on two of the three judges’ scorecards, the 29-year-old Seldon won by the scores 58-55, 58-55 and 57-56.

“I broke my hand in the first round and also got dropped from a flash knockdown,” Seldon wrote on social media Friday night. “I bit down and won every round after that.”

Isiah, who trains in Atlantic City like his father before him, is 3-0 in 2017 and is scheduled to fight again in early December.

Known for his beautiful, snapping jab, the then well-sculpted Bruce Seldon (40-8, 36 KO) was a heavyweight powerbroker of sorts in the 1990s - a decade littered with stars in that division.

The elder Seldon held the WBA heavyweight title from 1995 to 1996, notably losing to Mike Tyson via knockout in his second defense.

Seldon is currently one of his son's trainers.
