The Canelo Alvarez truck: Is Saul livin' large?Written by Leroy Cleveland
According to Univision and several You Tube pages, boxing star Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez may have recently purchased a brand new Mercedes-Benz Brabus G63 6x6.
The truck, a real looker, is believed to have cost $1.3 Million USD.
Canelo, of course, soundly defeated Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in May, dominating his foe from start to finish and coasting to a clean sweep on the judges' cards.
According to the Nevada Athletic Commission, Canelo's guarantee was $5 Million and Chavez's $3 Million. Alvarez also reportedly received a percentage of the gate and pay-per-view buys as well as payouts from Mexican networks that broadcasted the bout. In the end, Alvarez may have garnered upwards of $8-12 Million.
A year ago, Canelo Alvarez was listed to receive a guaranteed $3.5 million purse while Amir Khan, his opponent, was slated to earn $2 Million. Of course, those sums didn't include the aforementioned supplementary revenue sources.
And for his most recent bout against Liam Smith last September, Canelo Alvarez earned his customary $3-3.5 Million pre-fight guarantee in addition to proceeds from Mexican TV and PPV incentives.
Also, it's belived Alvarez earned a gross of $8-$12 Million for his superfight with Floyd Mayweather in 2013.
More about the supposed Canelo Alvarez truck...
The luxury SUV apparently has 700 horsepower and features a matte carbon hood, electronically extendable running boards with remote control, a unique front fascia with LED daytime running lights, aluminum pedals, and carbon bits such as the mirror caps.
This monster vehicle is like a tank, and some of them are believed to be bulllet proof....
Was Canelo thinking about fellow boxing star Adrien Broner when he presumably purchased the truck?
Broner, of course, was recently arrested on a warrant stemming from a failure to appear in court for a previous arrest in 2014. Upon stopping the fighter, police noticed bullet holes in his rented Chevy Suburban.
Perhaps Canelo can ride in style, and not have to worry about getting shot up.
According to Univision, an amateur video (below) recently recorded Canelo exiting his posh truck, a Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG 6x6 .
Canelo, you're a tough man.
One of the biggest match-ups in boxing in the last 20 years, Canelo Alvarez vs. Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin, is official for September 16th, 2017.
