Canelo vs GGG: Big Fight PreviewWritten by Joseph Herron
According to initial betting odds which were just released this morning, Golovkin is slightly favored, and is listed at (-170) or a little less than a 2 to 1 favorite. With the betting differential, Canelo is currently listed as a very live (+145) or almost a 1 1/2 to 1 betting underdog.
Last year at this time, the Kazakh born champion would have seen much more favorable odds, with a probable 4 or 5 to 1 listing. But after seemingly looking a bit more vulnerable in his last fight, many experts aren't exactly sure who will inevitably win the scheduled September classic.
Who will be the victor in this terrific style match-up between two of boxing's biggest attractions?
It's the irresistible force versus the immovable object, with GGG portraying the role of the aggressor, and Alvarez assuming his customary position as the explosive, pocket counter-puncher.
But will this highly anticipated super fight come through, and provide excitement for the mainstream, casual and die-hard fans alike? Or will Canelo vs. GGG be critical flop like the infamous "Mayweather vs. Pacquiao" of May, 2015?
Because of both fighters' ostensive mindsets, most fight fans can't imagine this spectacular pairing falling short of expectation.
Christmas should come early this year for every anxious fan of the sport...I hope. Thank you, Boxing...I think?
