David Haye vs Antonio Tarver in 2015? Mason 'The Line' Dixon ushers challenge

Written by
After 10 years of hibernation, heavyweight boxing is heating up.

Wladimir Klitschko, Deontay Wilder, Tyson Fury, Bermane Stiverne and a comebacking David Haye lead the way on the division's path towards ultimate redemption heading into 2015.

Even Mason 'The Line' Dixon, conqueror of Rocky Balboa, wants a piece of the action.

Can he do it?

Can 46 year old Antonio Tarver, a.k.a., Mason Dixon, win a share of the world heavyweight title?

The former light heavyweight title holder and Rocky Balboa star believes he can, and wants former two division champion David Haye to sign on the dotted line and serve as a proverbial stepping stone on the former's mission.

"I need him to be my set-up guy to beat in order for me to get a world title shot against Klitschko," Tarver told ESPN UK.

"Haye has one-punch knockout ability and he's aggressive. Once I beat him, though, I want Klitschko."

"I will come to England and knock out Haye, knock him out cold."

Tough talk from a tough man.

Earlier this month, Tarver ended his 13-month hiatus by knocking out Klitschko trainer and formidable contender Johnathon Banks. While the win was highly impressive, many who witnessed the bout said both men looked sluggish.

So is Mason Dixon... er.. Antonio Tarver, ready for an athletic and explosive marksman like David Haye?

"In a perfect world I will be fighting Haye early next year. He keeps insisting that he's the second-biggest name in the heavyweight division," stated the confident Tarver.

"I'm 46 and I don't want to go through 12 guys like [Chris] Arreola, [Eddie] Chambers or [Steve] Cunningham to get Klitschko."

Although Haye would be a clear favorite, he'll have to shake off a lot of ring rust against the polished Tarver, a fella who has never been knocked out.

Both trash-talkers and relatively mainstream fighters, Haye vs Tarver would probably generate high interest.

The question is... When?

Despite Tarver's recent win, neither fighter has a ton of buzz at the moment.
