Today, from the O2 Arena in Hamburg, Germany, universally recognized Heavyweight Champion Wladimir Kitschko (62-3, 52 KOs) will face unbeaten mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev (20-0, 11 KOs).

After much negotiation and a postponement, the fight is finally here.

As with many of Klitschoko's fights as of late, there seems to be some confusion in the U.S. and U.K about date, start time and broadcast channel for those who want to watch via TV.

Americans are accustomed to watching big fights at night but this bout will be broadcast mid-day in the States.

So who is Kubrat Pulev?

Hailing from Bulgaria, Pulev has a professional record of 20-0 with 11 wins coming via stoppage and is rated the No. 2 heavyweight (Klitschko is No. 1) in the world by BoxRec, boxing's famed records and database site. He is also The RING Magazine's top contender.

"I will get the titles," stated the Bulgarian challenger.

"I am ready to replace Wladimir Klitschko as the world champion. This fight is the highlight of my career. I will show the fans worldwide that Klitschko is no invincible machine and fulfill my dream. I have worked hard for this chance."

Ahead of Saturday's heavyweight championship showdown between champion Wladimir Klitschko and Kubrat Pulev, many American casual  fans are dismissing the challenger's chances, insisting he's just another nameless, faceless opponent.

... But harcore fight fans know Pulev is a serious contender.
