Devon Alexander wins exciting affair

Written by
In an action packed fight, Devon Alexander (26-2 2 KOs ) fought an uncharacteristically entertaining bout against Jesus Soto Karass (28-9-3 18 KOs) tonight in Carson, CA.
The fight opened with Alexander pumping his lightening fast jab, utilizing great in-and-out movement and pivots, boxing circles around the rugged Soto Karass.

In Round 2, Alexander found a home for his check right hook, landing the shot and quickly getting out of the range of the persuing Soto Karass.

Emplying superior hand and foot movement, Alexander, in the third stanza, sat in the pocket and exchanged punches with Soto Karass allowing the former to land effective shots to the body.

In the middle rounds, Soto Karass often switched to southpaw and had some success in tracking Alexander down and working him to the body; Alexander's footwork was far less effective, allowing Soto Karass to get the better of the exchanges.

However, in Round 8 Alexander got back on track, employing superior angles and using his speed to unleash fast counters and combinations that enabled him to regain control of the fight.

The final round was an-all out slugfest as the fighters engaged in savage exchanges.

The judges awarded the bout to Alexander 97-93 and 99-91 twice.

The pace and range of the fight was dictated by Alexander as Soto Karass only found success when Alexander deviated from the game plan and sat in the pocket to exchange blows.

Alexander's willingness to stand and trade at times may have produced his most entertaining bout to date.
