Paulie Malignaggi: "Amir Khan and Keith Thurman beat Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather"

On Saturday, December 13, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, former IBF/WBA Junior Welterweight Champion Amir Khan made a strong case for Welterweight supremacy in putting forth a very impressive and dominant effort against former two division titlist Devon Alexander.

While calling last night's action, Paulie Malignaggi made the claim that Khan would possibly defeat both Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao in head to head match-ups.

"Amir beats both Mayweather and Pacquiao right now," claims the former two division titlist.

"Khan controls range better, and has the hand speed and footwork to give both fighters serious issues in the ring. It all about the style match-up. Any fighter who attempts to fight Amir Khan from mid to long range and tries to outbox him will lose."

"Also any fighter who can't cut off the ring proficiently against a guy with the kind of footwork and athleticism that Amir Khan possesses will have a lot trouble also."

Surprisingly, the "Magic Man" believes that Amir Khan's toughest challenges lie elsewhere in the packed Welterweight division.

"I think Amir's toughest fights right now are Thurman and Brook...not Mayweather or Pacquiao."

Not only does Malignaggi feel that the 28 year old British favorite out-performs the two most widely recognized fighters in the world at this time, the Showtime Sports color commentator also believes the interim WBA Welterweight titlist would also be too much for both Pacquiao and Mayweather.

"To be honest with you, I would favor Keith Thurman against both Mayweather and Pacquiao right now as well."

"I think Keith might be the best Welterweight in the world right now," claims the 34 year old prizefighter. "I would pick Thurman to beat both of those guys. I think Keith Thurman has become a complete fighter."

"He has power, technical ability, and mental maturity as well. Thurman is one of the most versatile fighters in the division and I think everyone at 147 would have their hands full with Thurman at this time, including Pacquiao and Mayweather."

Hopefully, fight fans will receive more clarity within the 2015 boxing year.
