According to Kevin Iole of Yahoo! Sports, Manny Pacquiao's guaranteed purse for Saturday night's bout against Brandon
Rios is $18 Million USD.
And depending on the live gate and pay-per-view (PPV) buys, the Filipino superstar could leave Macau having earned
upwards of $30 Million for his services.
Brandon Rios will pocket $4 million, by far the largest sum of his professional career.
$30 million? How is this possible?
Although Floyd Mayweather has proved he's boxing undisputed cash cow king, Manny Pacquiao remains a major draw, despite
back-to-back his loses last year.
PacMan lost a hotly-disputed split decision to Tim Bradley last summer and was knocked cold by a seemingly hurt and
desperate Juan Manuel Marquez in a bout Manny was starting to dominate.
Neither defeat is your typical loss in boxing and many assert Bradley and Marquez got lucky, albeit in different ways.
Moreover, Manny Pacquiao remains one of the most popular athletes in the world. And while a loss or two can damage a
superstar's stock, it'll take a lot more than two seemingly wacky defeats to detail the Pac train.
Pacquiao vs Rios Purses: How do they compare?
Since we don't know how much revenue will be generated by the live gate, we'll have compare and contrast 'guaranteed'
purses.
