Although the sports world seems to be fixated on the Pacman’s "jump-shot" at the current time, Manny Pacquiao is primarily focused on his May 2nd assignment and is planning to depart for America one week ahead of schedule.

The 36 year old prizefighter will leave for Los Angeles, California on February 28th, a week before his original departure date of March 8th, to prepare at the world renowned Wildcard Gym.

According to a recent interview with the Manila Times, Manny is solely consumed with handing his May 2nd opponent his first professional loss.

“We only have two months to prepare,” Pacquiao told the Manila Times on Wednesday evening. “That’s why we cannot afford to waste time."

"Although there are still eight weeks remaining before fight night, I’ve already been training in General Santos.”

Because of Mayweather’s versatility in the ring, the sport’s only eight division world champion realizes he has to prepare for every possible scenario that could play out during the May 2nd main event in Las Vegas, Nevada.

“I have no idea if he is going to attack or run,” stated Manny Pacquiao. “But I will be ready for every strategy because Mayweather is absolutely a great fighter. I’m expecting Floyd to come out strong with an intelligent gameplan. That’s why I must prepare my best.”

Although the Pacman’s trainer, Freddie Roach, also works with two-time Olympic gold medal winner Zou Shiming, and will be flying out with the IBF Flyweight title challenger to Macau, China, on Friday, February 27th, Pacquiao is still planning to make his way to the USA to work with assistant trainers Buboy Fernandez and Nonoy Neri in Roach’s absence.

When asked if eight weeks was enough time to prepare for the massive May 2nd showdown with Floyd Mayweather Jr., Coach Freddie seemed confident that two months of rigorous training was ample time to work on the proposed fight plan.

“It’s plenty of time,” insists Freddie Roach. “We’ll be peaking at the right time leading into May 2nd.”
