Joshua vs Parker: Weight a factor?

How much will heavyweight title-holders Anthony Joshua and Joseph Parker weigh for the March 31 unification bout?

Mum is the word on both ends, although some speculate the smaller Parker will come in lighter.

Should that happen, it would behoove Joshua to be lighter given he'll be facing a smaller, quicker opponent who might be even lighter and quicker than usual.

When the topic of weight was discussed, Joshua refused to make any predictions.

“I am not going to say because, last time I said that, I came in at my career-heaviest,” Joshua told Sky Sports.

“I’m not going to jinx it. Whether I’m bigger than I was for Takam, or lighter than I was for Dominic Breazeale, I will make sure I am victorious."

Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn, via Sky Sports, added, “I can’t see [Joshua] coming in more than 17st 8lbs or 17st 9lbs, which would be half-a-stone lighter than the last fight. Maybe he will be even lighter.”

Bigger isn't always better
In boxing, speed, endurance and flexibility are critical; Even moreso than punching power.

Visually, Anthony Joshua is the perfect specimen for a heavyweight champion. But big muscles and impressive physiques don't always produce success in the boxing ring. So, while novice observers of the 'Sweet Science' and casual fans give bonus points to the more muscled fighter, he's not always the combatant with the technical or physical advantage.
