Whos' fighting tonight?
At 10 p.m. eastern time, HBO will give boxing fans the opportunity to catch the replay of Manny Pacquiao’s impressive shut-out victory over previously undefeated Chris Algieri, in which the living legend floored his defensive minded challenger six times.

Since his highly publicized win in Macao, China, most fight scribes and boxing fans have started banging the drum once again for a mega fight pitting the sport’s only eight division world champion and the universally recognized pound for pound king of boxing, Floyd Mayweather Jr.

While initial indicators have been promising for a projected 2015 meeting, ringside observers could be seeing the Pacman’s next opponent on tonight’s HBO broadcast, should Mayweather choose to fight Amir Khan instead of the Filipino Congressman next year.

In the main event of HBO’s live coverage tonight, undefeated WBO Lightweight Champion Terence Crawford (24-0, 17 KOs) will defend his title against perennial contender Raymundo Beltran (29-6-1, 17 KOs).

The scheduled twelve round championship fight will take place at a packed CenturyLink Center in Crawford’s hometown of Omaha, Nebraska.

Not only is the reigning champ one of the more talented fighters in any weight division, he’s become one of the biggest ticket sellers within the entire sport, making him a genuine candidate for the Pacman in 2015. Largely considered to be the best Lightweight in the world, “Bud” Crawford brings a brilliant skill set to the ring with a great amount of mental and physical durability.

Terence picked up his most inspiring victory to date in his last HBO appearance, impressively stopping former Olympic gold medal winner and two division world titlist Yuriorkis Gamboa within nine rounds.

And although he’s coming into what will probably be his final fight in the 135 pound weight class as an 8 to 1 betting favorite, his opponent is possibly one of the more underrated competitors in boxing.

Raymundo Beltran is a tough, seasoned fight veteran who customarily gives every opponent he faces a very difficult time in the ring. The 33 year old perennial contender has a granite chin and an iron resolve, which allows him to consistently put effective pressure on his opposition from start to finish.

Despite bringing good power and an excellent beard to the ring, Beltran has traditionally come up short when stepping up in class. Although his last three losses have been controversial, in which the Mexican born fighter made a convincing argument for winning each bout, Beltran is still largely considered to be a perennial “runner up” by most boxing experts and ringside observers.

The 'Bride’s mate' of the division will have to put forth a flawless performance this evening to finally win his first world title against an elite level talent like Terence Crawford.

Ray’s best chance for victory will be to cut off the ring effectively and close the distance with intelligence, working behind a stiff jab and throwing in combination when in range. Beltran must not allow Crawford to get his punches off first and dictate the pace of the fight.

If he doesn’t apply steady pressure with a healthy and consistent work rate, the reigning Lightweight title holder will successfully retain his WBO strap, and possibly put himself in position for a big money fight in 2015.

In the co-main event of the evening, current IBF Featherweight title holder Evgeny Gradovich (19-0, 9 Kos) will defend his belt against the formidable and unbeaten Jayson Velez (22-0, 16 KOs) of Caguas, Puerto Rico. Although Gradovich is widely considered to be the most lightly regarded Featherweight title holder, the Russian born champ possesses an all action style and consistently puts forth a very entertaining effort.

Look for Gradovich vs. Velez to steal the show tonight in a sure fire gunfight for the coveted Featherweight title!!
