Golovkin vs Brook predictions: Harsh forecasts by Manny Pacquiao and RoachHot
On Thursday, September 8, 50 year fight promoter Bob Arum, Philippines Senator Manny Pacquiao and Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach participated in a press conference at the Beverly Hills Hotel to announce their event, "Pacquiao vs. Vargas: Legend vs. Champ", which will take place at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, on November 5th.
Although the primary topic of conversation was his opponent, current WBO Welterweight champion Jessie Vargas, the 37 year old fight legend did share his thoughts on this Saturday night's main event, Golovkin vs Brook, at the O2 Arena in London, England.
When asked for his prediction in the pound-for-pound match-up between reigning middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin and IBF 147 pound titlist Kell Brook, Manny didn't have to think twice before giving the inquiring media his prediction.
"GGG will win by knock-out," the Pacman stated to ESNews at the "Pacquiao/Vargas" press conference in LA.
The Filipino icon initially met the hard punching middleweight last year, just two weeks prior to Pacquiao's highly publicized match-up with Floyd Mayweather Jr. on May 2nd. And despite being recognized as one of the best pound for pound fighters on the planet, Manny had no clue who GGG was at the time according to head trainer Freddie Roach.
"Manny doesn't watch very much boxing," the heralded fight trainer admitted to the Dailymail.co.uk in April of last year. "Of course he was courteous as always, but he truly had no idea who our visitor was. Even though Golovkin is one of the best fighters in the world currently, he didn't know what a 'Triple G' was before their meeting."
Pacquiao understands exactly who the menacing middleweight is now, and believes Golovkin will win by a decisive and resounding KO.
"GGG is a monster," stated the eight division world titlist. "He will win by KO."
When various media members asked the seven-time trainer of the year award winner what he thought about Kell Brook's rapid and seemingly exorbitant weight gain for this Middleweight title fight, Coach Freddie seemed somewhat amused.
Although many of Kell's supporters believe the added girth to the customary welterweight fighter will be an advantage on fight night, Coach Freddie feels the extra pounds will ultimately hurt Brook.
"That is funny," Roach remarked to ESNews on Thursday. "How long does it take your body to accept all of that added weight? How are you supposed to box well with all of that extra weight on you? Did he gain that weight in like two weeks?"
"He's [Brook] going to get knocked out so f***ing fast!"
Fight fans will get to see if Freddie and Manny's predictions come to fruition on Saturday night.
