Over the last five years, Pacquiao fans and Mayweather supporters have been bickering ad nauseam, concerning which future Hall of Famer is ultimately better, and who would be victorious in a head to head match-up.

According to recent reports from the Filipino press, fight fans may realize the resolution to this long standing feud in 2015.

On Monday afternoon, Bob Arum stated to “GMA News Online” that HBO and Showtime Sports were currently negotiating a potential deal to make the Pacquiao vs. Mayweather super fight a stark reality.

“The networks are now already talking,” stated the Hall of Fame promoter.

“I am now more optimistic that the fight is going to happen than I was three or four years ago. I am talking to responsible people who are in touch with the Mayweather guys, and all of these people have the ability to move it ahead and make it happen.”

Unfortunately Bob wasn’t more specific regarding the details of the suggested negotiations, but did reveal that CBS President and CEO Leslie Moonves is currently overseeing the process and seems determined to make the mega fight happen for 2015.

According to Hall of Fame promoter and matchmaker Don “War a Week” Chargin, the news makes this Saturday night’s meeting between Manny Pacquiao and Chris Algieri that much more important.

“If Manny loses this fight against Chris Algieri, you can pretty much flush the Mayweather fight down the toilet,” insists the six decade fight promoter.

“Although it’s still a big fight, Mayweather/Pacquiao isn’t as big today as it would have been three or four years ago. And if Manny loses on November 22, that match-up definitely loses most of its appeal.”

Bob Arum was in agreement with “War a Week” Chargin concerning the gravity of the upcoming HBO PPV event.

“Although I’m optimistic for the first time in a very long time, Manny still has to win the fight,” stated the former attorney turned boxing promoter. “But all I can say is that now, there’s a ray of sunshine that it could be possible.”
