Floyd Mayweather should kick Zab Judah out of camp

Over the last 48 hours, it has been revealed that Floyd Mayweather Jr. has been giving Zab Judah a beating during their sparring sessions. According to Mayweather’s uncle, Jeff, Floyd and Judah sparred for five rounds and Mayweather pummeled Judah with ease.

This should come as no surprise nor be breaking news as Judah has been a shot fighter for years.

Moreover, it’s baffling Team Mayweather chose Judah to be a sparring partner to prepare for his showdown with Manny Pacquiao.

With the exception of the fact they are both southpaws, there are few similarities between Judah and Manny Pacquaio. Pac-Man throws fast combinations and, at times, is so aggressive he's reckless.

Judah, on the other hand, has been unwilling to let his hands go. In his last fight against Paulie Malignaggi, Judah only connected on 121 out of 498 punches (24%) compared to Malignaggi who connected on 220 out of 607 punches (36%).

It was a fight Judah needed to win to stay relevant and if he was unwilling to engage with Paul in a real prizefight, why would Team Mayweather expect more from him in sparring?

It’s been awhile since Mayweather faced an attacking fighter with fast hands and he needs sparring partners who can emulate Pacquiao as much as possible.

It’s time for Mayweather and his team to cut their losses and ask Judah to leave their training camp. There are other sparring partners who can better prepare Mayweather for Pacquiao such as Errol Spence Jr or a number of other fast, southpaw welterweights.
