Tonight, from the Coliseo Ruben Rodriguez in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, American heavyweight Deontay Wilder recorded his 31st KO in as many fights. The finish came midway through Round 1 off a left hook/straight right combination.

Scott sank to the canvas and tried several times to arise but failed to beat the ten count.

Initially, it appeared it was the right hand, which was partially blocked, that felled Scott.

But after the instant reply review, Showtime commentators suggested the left hook, which landed behind the ear, may have done the most damage.

Nevertheless, the combination didn't appear powerful or precise enough to knockdown a heavyweight. However, fighters, especially heavyweights, have been KO'd before by glancing blows.

George Foreman and Sonny Liston, for example, knocked out some foes with blows that partially landed, or appeared to have partially landed.

"I got natural power, baby," asserted Wilder who is in line to face the winner of Bermane Stiverne vs Chris Arreola for the WBC heavyweight title.
