Don't sleep on Kavaliauskas or the situation
Yes, Crawford is one of the best fighters in boxing and, perhaps, one of the best thus far in the 21st Century. And yes, the odds make seHowever, he'll have to overcome some unusual obstacles because Egidijus Kavaliauskas is the perfect opponent to overlook at the perfect time.

Is Terence Crawford, while awaiting possible superfights with Errol Spence and/or Manny Pacquiao, having motivational issues as he prepares for Egidijus Kavaliauskas?

And is Crawford & Co taking Egidijus likely because because of the latter's draw against Ray Robinson in March? Let's not forget, Kavaliauskas is unbeaten in 22 bouts and boasts 17 KOs.

At 5'9", the 31 year old Kavaliauskas is a two-time Olympian, representing Lithuania. He's tall, strong and rangy; Moreover, he's hungry and motivated but not well known.

It's these types of situations that can produce surprises.

A few surprises in welterweight history

Pernell Whitaker (Won) SD 12 Wilfredo Rivera I, 1996.
The unheralded Rivera surprised the boxing world by forcing the great Whitaker to struggle to earn a split decision; An immediate rematch was ordered and Pernell won a more decisive but hard fought unanimous verdict.

At the time, Whitaker was eying super fights with Oscar De La Hoya and Felix Trinidad.

Pernell Whitaker (Won) TKO 11 Diosbelys Hurtado, 1997
Whitaker vs De La Hoya was a done deal so long as Pernell successfully defended his title against Diosbelys Hurtado, an unknown but well-schooled Cuban. A 10-1 favorite, Whitaker tasted the canvas twice and trailing on all three scorecards heading into Round 11.

Desperate, the usually slippery Whitaker, desperate for a KO, went into 'Mike Tyson' mode and subsequently KO'd the tiring Hurtado.

Julio Cesar Chavez (Lost) SD 12 Frankie Randall I, 1994
Still a top pound-for-pound and the dominant jr welterweight at the time, fight legend Julio Cesar Chavez dropped a shocking split decision verdict to an unknown, relatively unproven Frankie Randall. Although Randall needed a knockdown and two one-point deductions from Chavez to get the upset, he deserved the nod even without them.

Kostya Tszyu (Lost) TKO 9 Vince Phillips, 1997
A feared, undefeated KO artist, Tszyu entered this fight as the IBF junior welterweight champion. Phillips, on the other hand, was coming off a split decision loss and had been KO'd by the only name opponents he'd faced, Anthony Jones and Ike Quartey.

Phillips was certainly no tomato can but, on paper, should have been no threat to Tszyu. But during the bout, Phillips absorbed Kostya's punches well and dished out a fair share of punishment as well. In a classic brawl and with the fight close on the cards, Phillips would force a TKO in Round 9.

Back to Crawford vs Kavaliauskas...
Terence deserves to be a big favorite but is he overlooking the situation and opponent? Like Hurtado, Randall, Phillips and Rivera in their respective situations, Egidijus  Kavaliauskas is a polished, solid contender who is easy to overlook because he hasn't defeated any big names and is relatively unheralded.

And like Whitaker, Chavez and Tszyu in the aforementioned scenarios, Crawford is unbeaten and considered among the best in boxing.

The Terence Crawford vs Kavaliauskas odds are accurate but tempting if you're looking to wager on a draw or upset.
