Conor McGregor: Girlfriend proves 'Behind every great man stands a great woman'

It's often stated, "Behind every great man stands a great woman".

In the case of UFC Featherweight champion and slight betting favorite for UFC 202's main event of the evening, Conor McGregor, the time tested adage definitely holds true.

Customarily seen with "The Notorious One" from Dublin, Ireland, longtime partner and devoted girlfriend Dee Devlin has been with Conor for almost a decade. The Irish beauty just turned 29 years old on August 9th, and was seen about a month ago celebrating Jennifer Lopez's 47th birthday in Las Vegas, Nevada.

At first glance, the duo from Walkinstown seems like a typical, extravagant Hollywood couple that enjoys many nights out among A-list celebrities. But in reality, Conor and Dee are merely enjoying the product of many years of hard work and times of struggle.

According to the current UFC icon, Dee has always been and continues to serve as the primary inspiration for his success.

"My girlfriend has been there since the start. She has helped me throughout this career. If It wasn't for her, I probably wouldn't be where I am today. Everyday since I started in this game, she’s supported me," Conor McGregor admitted to "The Irish Mirror". "She’d drive me to the gym, and she’d listen to all my dreams. I wouldn’t be doing this if it wasn’t for her. I’m doing all this for her."

"We've been together a long time. She's been through it all with me. My girlfriend worked very hard throughout the years and stuck by me when I had essentially absolutely nothing. I only had a dream that I was telling her. For me to be able to take her out of work, give her everything she's ever wanted and to travel the world with her fills me with pride. It keeps me going."

Likewise, Dee's devotion to her man, Conor, is undeniably strong.

After McGregor's big victory over American Chad Mendes in July of last year, the humble Ms. Devlin gushed on her Instagram account, and thanked Conor's die-hard supporters as well.

"To say that I am proud is a MAJOR understatement! I am so on cloud 9 right now I can't even put it into words! Thank you to every single person who made the trip out to Vegas to support Conor last night! The place was absolutely buzzin!"

"And to all of the fans at home who also had a big part to play in making this event so special. Hours upon hours, years upon years of hard work and complete dedication to his craft accumulated last night. I am so grateful right now it's overwhelming. We did it babe!! I love you more than anything."

Even through some of the more difficult times early on, Dee never lost hope or doubted Conor's potential. To the stunning Irish beauty, she somehow knew the current UFC superstar was destined for greatness.

"He's always been super confident, and we always knew this was going to happen," stated Ms. Devlin to MMA Underground Online. "It was nearly like we were predicting the future. It's weird for me to say but we just always knew he was going to get to this level and every few months it just keeps going and going and going and the sky is the limit."

When the 27 year old fighter's career began to take off, Conor's time at home became less and less frequent. The controversial MMA rockstar subsequently made the decision to include Dee as an official part of "Team McGregor" and began taking her on the road with him. Dee currently manages Conor's finances, privately and professionally.

"She does not work anymore," Conor stated proudly on Twitter. "I hired her to the business. She works for me now and collects the checks."

Although there's nowhere else she'd rather be, Dee admits being ringside isn't always easy.

"I find I'm more nervous now," stated McGregor's girlfriend to MMA Underground Online. "The first time I went to see Conor fight there was 50 people in a room, and I thought there's no way you can be more nervous than this. But each time he fights, it's just getting more and more nerve-wracking. Watching someone you care about getting in the ring...it definitely gets me in the gut, I have to say."

"But I definitely try to help him out all the time, especially around a fight because it's such a tough time with his weight. I cook, clean, pack his gym bag...all that kind of stuff. I couldn't imagine not being a part of it now."
