Canelo vs Golovkin: Alvarez's trainer not impressed with 'slow' GGG

Since Gennady Golovkin's controversial but definitive victory over current IBF Welterweight champion Kell Brook this past Saturday, media members and fight fans have been dying to hear what Team Canelo thought of GGG's seemingly "vulnerable" performance in London, England.

"I didn't see anything special," Canelo Alvarez stated to FightHub TV on Thursday afternoon. "Obviously if you have a fighter that's right in front of him (GGG), he's going to look like Golovkin. But when he faces a fighter who moves a little and can get some combinations in, you see it...he doesn't look special."

"We already know what he has and what he can bring."

Canelo's head trainer, Eddy Reynoso, wasn't overtly impressed with the "most avoided fighter in boxing" as well.

"Like always, Golovkin was very prepared and strong, but very slow," stated the Mexican born fight coach to FightHub TV.

"I didn't see anything special and I've never seen anything special in him, other than his power and discipline."

"It was a fight that was entertaining for the first few rounds, but ultimately the weight and the division that Brook moved up to is what caused the loss."

So why not fight Golovkin next, rather than making the real bosses of boxing, the avid fight fans, wait until next year?

"Well first we have to do this one, and see how we come out. We will see what follows. First though, the important thing is to take this step, win the fight, and then see what is next."

Canelo insists that the entire "ducking" claim by his critics and detractors is a bit unreasonable and without merit.

"I'm 26 years old and I've never ducked anybody," Canelo Alvarez told TMZ Sports. "Mayweather, Lara, Cotto, Trout...I've fought the best and have never run from anybody."

"I want this fight and it has to happen. It's what the fans want, and it's what I want!!:"
