On Sunday, April 13th, Golden Boy Promotions announced via twitter that the very popular Junior Middleweight match-up between Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and Erislandy Lara was officially slated for a July 12th main event at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, and scheduled to be broadcast on Showtime PPV. During the most recent episode of "The Pugilist KOrner" radio show, featured on FightSaga.com every Sunday evening, Lara's trainer Ronnie Shields spoke about the upcoming bout between the two best fighters at 154 pounds.

"I'm very excited, and extremely happy for Erislandy," states the elite level fight trainer. "Ever since Canelo won the WBC title several years ago, Lara has been trying to get this fight. Now he has it. It's going to be really exciting to see how he prepares for a fight that he finally wants."

For years, Erislandy Lara has been dubbed by most boxing critics as the most avoided fighter in the 154 pound weight division. The talented Cuban fighter initially busted onto the world stage by shocking the entire boxing community and giving former two division world champion Paul "The Punisher" Williams everything he could handle for twelve hard rounds on July 9th, 2011, in what most considered to be the worst decision of the year.

With signature wins over Alfredo Angulo and Austin "No Doubt" Trout in 2013, the slick, southpaw counter puncher has finally arrived on the PPV stage, and is embracing the challenge of trying to hand Canelo is second professional loss.

"Erislandy is excited, I'm excited, and the fans are excited," states coach Ronnie Shields.

"We've already been in camp for several weeks, and Erislandy is already in fight shape, so all I have to do now is come up with a game plan to beat this guy. I'm really looking forward to that because I always love a challenge."

"The best part of boxing is the challenge before you. The biggest challenges always seem to bring the best performances out of the top fighters in boxing, and that's what Erislandy is...one of the best fighters in the sport...without a doubt."

Canelo Alvarez is no stranger to the Houston, Texas based boxing mentor. Coach Ronnie had the daunting task of coming up with a gameplan for a much younger version of the popular Mexican fighter back in November of 2011, and came up short.

Ronnie is much more confident the second time around.

"I'm excited to study Canelo for a second time with a fighter like Erislandy Lara in my corner. The first time I had to come up with a gameplan for Alvarez, I was training Kermit Cintron. Lara and Cintron are two completely different styles and at different stages in their careers. Erislandy is in his fighting prime at this point in his career, whereas Kermit was contemplating retirement going into his fight with Canelo. That makes a huge difference when faced with the challenge of taking on a dangerous puncher like Canelo Alvarez."

"So I feel so much more confident going into this fight on July 12th."

How confident? The former Junior Welterweight contender expounds on his fighter's chances for victory this summer.

Will Canelo get schooled July 12?

"Canelo is going to realize on July 12th that he made a serious mistake in taking on Erislandy Lara. Once he gets in that ring, Canelo is going to realize who Erislandy Lara really is and understand why everyone has been ducking him for so long."

"I can't wait. Canelo is going to get schooled on July 12th...he's going to get schooled in a big way!"
