BoxRec Heavyweight Rankings (As of May 6, 2021): Huni is no. 70 and Gallen is No. 60.
Olympics: Huni will represent Australia at the Olympic Games in 2021
Riding high: Gallen is fresh off his first round TKO of previous top 20 heavyweight Lucas Browne in April. With the win, Gallen cemented himself as a legitimate boxer instead of a retired footballer simply trying to box.
Experience?: Although Gallen has more professional experience, Huni appears to have a deeper pedigree. The latter's polish may be the difference in the bout, especially if it goes the distance.
Age: 17 years separate the fighters; Gallen is 39 while Huni is just 22.
Huni vs Gallen predictions
Michael Zefara: Speaking on Triple M’s The Rush Hour, Zerafa - who will fight Tim Tzsyu in Newcastle on July 7 - was asked how Gallen will fare against Huni.
“If he [Gallen] wins I’ll retire,” Zerafa said of the former NRL player.
“If he wins then there’s more going on behind the boxing scenes that I don’t even know. Stylistically, and technically, he can’t win the fight.
“Nothing against Gal, I like Gal, I met him in Melbourne a few times and he comes across as a great bloke... he’s a great athlete. It’s like me saying I’ll score a try before Gallen does, it’s just not going to happen.
“I can’t see Huni losing this fight. He can do it all... he’s our best heavyweight in Australia.”
Pick: Huni
