Mares vs Agbeko 2

This bout is a rematch from their first bout this summer.

In an entertaining bout, unbeaten Abner Mares (22-0-1, 13 KOs) dethroned IBF bantamweight champion Joseph Agbeko (28-3, 22 KOs) via a controversial majority decision Saturday night at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

Mares was incorrectly credited with two knockdowns by referee Russell Mora. The first occurred in the opening round and was clearly the result of an Agbeko slip - And the second, late in the 11th Round, was clearly a low blow. Although Mares was faster and landed more crisp punches, he also hit Agbeko with hard low blows repeatedly yet did not get a point deduction. Had the alleged knockdowns have been correctly dismissed and points been taken away for Mores' repeated fouls, this outcome may have been a lot different.

The referee, Russell Mora, has already come under intense scrutiny.

Scores were 113-113, 115-111, 115-111.

As a result of questionable officiating, Mares and Agebeko will fight again Dec 3.
